In 1999 I was introduced to Oscar Lopez, the flamenco fusion artist and had a chance to open up for him in high school with my band. Around that time I discovered a great live 8 track from Jose Feliciano. These two artists were a gateway to Flamenco music and Latin Fusion. From there I made several friends from Spain, Mexico, Brazil, Puerto Rico, and Chile. All of these connections led me down a cultural path to appreciate the Latin music. I attended various world music festivals that showcased many Latin influenced bands. I have travelled to Mexico, Belize and Puerto Rico further exposing me to Latin culture. This album pays homage to and takes you on a journey through my Latin influences.

The album is named for the many times I have shared Empanadas with my Latin friends and the crazy adventures I have had going on Taco runs in the late night in Mexico with my friend Phil and Jose & Lulu in Puerto Rico.
