about

When I was in grade 8 I was sorting through my mom's tapes. She had a tape that said SRV on it. I played it and was astounded. Finding out that it was Stevie Ray Vaughan, I soon wanted to know everything about him. I bought his biography and went to the library and rented every CD of his influences. Blues was my gateway into finding my own taste in music. Previously I only listened to what the radio dictated was cool. Flash forward to college and a classmate said have you ever heard of Freaky Flow? He handed me a mixed CD by Freaky Flow. It was Drum n' Bass, Hip Hop, and Jungle fused together. It was innovative. I started to observe rave culture in college. It took me 12 years to realize that I too, could produce electronic music. I got my MicroKorg first and the GarageBand app on my phone and started producing. I later moved into using Ableton Live. I got a Push and a Launch pad and downloaded some Blues samples from Loopmasters and that was the foundation of what inspired this record. I combined my passion for Blues and Rave culture break beats and tones and timbres and created this hybrid album. I have felt that Blues has not had a major shift forward since the early 90's. I discovered Gramatik, C2C, and Ash Grunwald that are all using Blues in combination with future technology. Almost like Blues DJs if you will. This encouraged me to dive deep down this path of future electro blues. This is a teaser 7 song EP of the full length which will feature new versions of the songs an many more with my blues musician friends. I want to push them into future and showcase some of their solos. Keep you eyes out for a fall release of the full length version of this album. Thanks for listening.
