This song was written shortly after seeing a picture on facebook of my friend Lisa Bates riding an elephant part of one of her trips. I thought about all of the travels she had been doing. My mom had bought me a Compilation CD from TimeLife that came with a book explaining the performances on each track. The CD was a double disk with 30 tracks of tribes around the world that would not otherwise have an opportunity to record if this travel journalist and recording engineer didn't come by their area. Those track further provided inspiration for this track. This song features African percussion and the marimba. Between SunFest, Hillside Fest and Stratford Summer Music and The Watoto Children's Choir, I had a chance to see a bunch of African fusion groups, again a further influence on this track.
