about

This is a Chinese traditional and soulful Jungle fused track that features Guzheng and some organic percussion sounds inspired by a Japanese Taiko Drum Band I saw at The Dragon Boat Festival in Stratford. Further inspiration came from a time when I was on a trip to San Francisco where are met Fred Li who played the Chinese instrument Erhu. This introduced me to a world of Chinese traditional music. I soon after sought out a Guzheng CD at Coles books. Often Erhu and Guzheng are paired together in compositions. It is very relaxing music and sounds reminiscent of ambient scenes from Kung Fu movies I had seen growing up. I was also shown a real Guzheng first by Colin Fisher, my friend, former collaborator and music teacher. This song is dedicated to Fred and Colin for encouraging my exploration of Chinese music.
